Royal Samui Beach Online After the excitement of the videos, things calmed down and the word got out that Royal Samui Beach, as it was still known then, was taking on the appearance of a real development. Construction continued normally and I wondered when I would be called to shoot the next episode of Royal Samui Beach Online.
It had been agreed that I shoot another video report once the show villa was ready, but despite the activity all over the site the show villa was slow in finishing. In fact, the construction of the show villa was finished, but the interior was being finalised and decisions were still being made as to the interior and furnishings etc.
In the end the call never came, perhaps they felt the first video had done its job so well that it wasn’t necessary to do any more filming.
A view from our villa along the coast. The coastline here is very rugged and looks and feels like the Mediterranean. The beach is only two minutes walk from villa 14. The scaffolding you can see in the middle of the picture is where they are going to erect the roof of the restaurant.
The resort’s main swimming pool is taking shape. The K tiled into the bottom of the swimming pool stands for Karma. The resort was rebranded from Royal Samui Beach to Karma Samui just before completion. Where you see the scaffolding is where they are constructing the restaurant.
The scaffolding will soon be down and work is continuing on the stone walls. Pieces of stone are cemented to the concrete walls which are a feature throughout the resort. This is where the restaurant will be built. It will overlook the swimming pool and the beach. The views from the restaurant are going to be stunning.
Eighteen months after the first video report, the end was at last in sight with the whole development taking shape and most of the construction finished on the villas. Only the interior finishes remained to be done in some of the villas and the landscaping around parts of the development.
On a large site like this, a lot of work goes into the initial stages, such as laying the infrastructure of drainage pipes and cables. Until this is complete, villa construction can’t take place. When it does however, the villas go up quite quickly and it is easy to see the progress that is being made.
Our villa was nearly complete by now, except for some of the interiors, and we started counting down the months and days to completion.
Open day. Kim Dixon, Sales Director, leaving the show villa after showing would-be purchasers around the site. It is important for every developer to build a show villa as soon as possible and furnish it, so that would-be villa owners can see exactly what they would be getting for their money and the high standard of build.
The beach front villas looking out across the beach. In Karma, there are only two large four bedroom beach front villas with pools. Although there are no private beaches in Thailand, Karma’s beach is effectively private because of the large rocks that surround it on either side.
Mary taking in the view and checking to see how far our villa, villa 14, had progressed since our last visit. Almost finished by the look of it. All of the construction is complete and most of the interior is finished. There was only a bit of landscaping left to do. We love frangipanis, so we were fortunate to have six frangipani tress, all in white!
Our dining-living pavilion, with white marble floor tiles and a sea view from every angle, of course! This room was now ready to have the kitchen installed. As our kitchen was open into the dinning area, we decided not to have the developers kitchen and designed our own, all in white. Once that is installed, we will be ready for our furniture.
The view from our pool taken from the sala. We were tempted to take a dip as they had just filled it with water...no leaks so far! When we first saw the plans for our villa the plunge pool was positioned where our sala is now. We decided this was not the optimum position for it and also we wanted a bigger pool, so we switched the sala and pool round.
